Theres a lot to this book, including some big ideas and philosophical history, but its never hard going, in fact is an absorbing novel and a fairly easy read.
Set within the context of a motorcycle ride across America in a Jack Kerouac sort of style, the narrator blends in his relationship with his son, a good dollop of his own remarkable personal history and some ideas that really challenge the nature of modern society.
Theres some excellent advice in it about how to go about involvement in a project with calmness and deliberation, avoiding many of the pitfalls that cause discouragement and failure.
Best tho, the whole book is suffused with “the flavour of Zen” – that taste which tells you youre being pointed somewhere beyond judgement, grasping and duality into a space of peace and unity.
